Global Team Effect

The United Nations 8 Millennium Development Goals are eight international development goals that 192 United Nations member states have agreed to achieve by the year 2015. They include reducing extreme hunger and poverty, reducing child mortality rates, fighting disease epidemics, and developing a global partnership for development.

World Peace Through Sports creates a “global team effect” by unifying all World Peace Through Sports teams to win the game of the meeting 8 U.N. Millennium Development goals by the year 2015.

1. Eradicate Extreme Hunger and Poverty

“Reducing poverty starts with children…”
Targets by 2015: Reduce by half the proportion of people living on less than a dollar a  day.

2. Achieve Universal Primary Education

“Educating girls advances development for all…”
Targets by 2015: Ensure that all boys and girls complete a full course of primary schooling.

3. Promote Gender Equality and Empower Women

“Advancing the rights of women and children advances humanity…”
Targets by 2015: Eliminate gender disparity at all levels of education by 2015 and empower women.

4. Reduce Child Mortality

“Child survival lies at the heart of every Millennium Development Goal being achieved…”
Targets by 2015: To reduce child mortality by two-thirds, from 93 children of every 1,000 dying before age five in 1990 to 31 of every 1,000 in 2015.

5. Improve Maternal Health

“Healthy children need healthy mothers…”
Targets by 2015: Reduce the maternal mortality ratio by three quarters.

6. Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Other Diseases.

“Millions of children are dying needlessly…”
Targets by 2015: Halt and begin to reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS.  Halt and begin to reverse the incidence of malaria and other major diseases.

7. Ensure Environmental Sustainability

“Safe water and sanifation are critical for survival…”
Targets by 2015: Reduce by half the proportion of people without access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation.

8. Develop a Global Partnership for Development

“Partnerships are vital to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals…”
Targets by 2015: Develop further an open trading and financial system that includes a commitment to good governance, development and poverty reduction – nationally and internationally.
